Hemsley receives Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week award

- For Immediate Release September 28, 2011 OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Trinity Washington University senior forward Kiauna Hemsley (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week. Hemsley scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Wilson College last week. She also provided the assist on Trinity’s first goal. Hemsley now has 10 goals and two assists on the season.

Tigers Shutout Rosemont

- September 26, 2011 The Trinity Tigers Soccer Team shutout Rosemont Monday afternoon 3-0.  Macee Wray opened up the scoring in the 28th minute off a corner kick.  The Tigers added another goal  just two minutes into the second half when Macee Wray played the ball perfectly across the six where Kiauna Hemsley was waiting to finish.  In the 75th minute Ana Ocampo scored off another perfectly placed ball by Macee Wray.  Goalkeeper Courtney Haines had 7 saves.  The Tigers are now 5-3.  They are in action again on Wednesday as they face the Crusaders from Christendom College.  Game time is …

Tigers Volleyball Wins in 5

- September 22, 2011 The  Trinity  Tigers  volleyball  team  defeated  Virginia  University  of  Lynchburg  in a close 5 set match.  Junior Ellen  Bethea  led  the  team  with  a  total  of  24  attack  points  and  4  digs.  Junior,  Lakia  Meriweather  and Freshman Keesha  Johnson   both  had  a  total  of  21  attack  points  for  the  game.  The  Tigers  are  scheduled  to  face  Rosemont  college  on  Monday. Tigers Defeat Wilson College

- September 21, 2011 The  Trinity  Tigers  soccer  team  defeated  Wilson  College  2-1  yesterday  afternoon.  Senior  Captain,  Macee  Wray  scored  the  Tigers’  first  goal  in the 28th minute assisted  by  Senior  Captain,  Kiauna  Hemsley.  With minutes remaining in the first half Wilson evened the score off a penalty kick.  Kiauna Hemsley scored the game winning goal in the second half assisted by Freshman Kirstyn Desroches.  Junior goalie, Courtney Haines had three saves on the day.  The Tigers are in action again on Monday as they face the Ravens from Rosemont College.  The Tigers are now 4-3 on the season. Tigers Soccer Shutout Mary Baldwin

- September 17, 2011 The Trinity Tigers Soccer team shutout Mary Baldwin College Saturday morning with a 3-0 victory.  Senior Captain Kiauna Hemsley opened up the scoring in the 8th minute with a goal assisted by Ana Ocampo.  In the second half Hemsley scored again in the 57th minuted.  With just minutes to go in the game Senior Captain Macee Wray placed a perfectly crossed ball to the feet of Hemsley who scored her 3rd goal of the game.  The Tigers are in action again on Wednesday as the host Wilson College.  Game time is 4:00 pm.  The Tigers are now 3-3 …

Trinity Athlete of the Week

- The  Association  of  Division  III  independents  women’s  soccer  player  of  the week  award  was  received  by  Trinity  Tiger  stand  out,  and  senior  captain,  Kiauna  Hemsley.  Kiauna  scored  a  total  of  6  goals in  the  Tiger  Classic.  Each  goal  was  followed  by  a  modest  smile  as  if  she  wanted  no  applause,  but  her  teammates  continued  to  cheer   in  excitement.  To  many,  Kiauna  Hemsley  is  just  a  devoted  student  athlete,  but  there  is  more  to  her  than  just  those  two  titles.  When  asked  about  her  pre  game  rituals,  Kiauna  replied,  “I  come in  the  gym  a  half  and  hour  before  games  and  get  myself  dressed  …

Volleyball Wins in 5 Sets…

- September 15, 2011 The Trinity Tigers Volleyball team won their first match of the season beating Valley Forge Christian College is 5 sets.  Junior Captain Ellen Bethea led the team with 17 digs and 6 attack points.  Freshman Keesha Johnson followed with 14 digs and Senior Captain Asia Barnett contributed 16 assists.  The Tigers are now 1-4 on the season.

Bethea Named Player of the Week

- For Immediate Release September 20, 2011 Bethea named Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Trinity Washington University junior left side hitter Ellen Bethea (New Haven, Conn.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week. Bethea tallied 17 digs and contributed six kills in Trinity’s first win of the season, a five-set victory over Valley Forge (19-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-20, 15-6). She also chipped in four service aces.

Hemsley scored four goals, two of them unassisted, and recorded an assist in a 5-1 win over Gallaudet University on Saturday. She then scored two more goals on Sunday in a 4-1 victory against Valley Forge College.

Tigers win second straight game!

- Sunday Sept. 11, 2011 The Trinity Tigers took the field Sunday afternoon to face off against Valley Forge Christian College.  The Tigers looked sluggish at first but managed to score two goals leading into halftime.  The second half the Tigers picked up the pace and scored two more goals for a 4-1 victory.  Senior Captain Kiauna Hemsely scored two goals and Senior Captain Macee Wray contributed one and two assists.  Sophomore Ana Ocampo scored her first goal of the season.  The Tigers are on the road next weekend as they face off against Ferrum College on Friday and Mary Baldwin …
