Envision Trinity 2020

As Trinity engages a new Middle States Self-Study during the period 2014-2016, the university’s dynamic work in strategic planning continues to move forward as a parallel process that informs the accreditation process, and the assessment work of Self-Study also shapes the plan.

ENVISION TRINITY 2020 WITH DATA APPENDICES continues the themes and goals of the earlier strategic plans while stating new and revised goals for achievement in the next seven years. Trinity chooses this longer period because it spans several major moments in the life of the university:  the Middle States review of 2014-2016, and the construction and opening of the new Trinity Academic Center by Fall 2016, which will have a significant and positive impact on enrollments, programs and services on campus.  In many ways, Envision Trinity 2020 is a plan that will guide Trinity’s work and campus life in the years immediately following the opening of the new academic center.

Envision Trinity 2020 continues the planning thread that began in the early 1990’s with Toward Trinity 2000, the plan that guided the 1996 Middle States self-study.  In May 2000, the Board of Trustees adopted a revised plan, Beyond Trinity 2000, that built upon the earlier plan’s statements of vision and values, but with more measurable goals.  At the time of the adoption of Beyond Trinity 2000, Trinity also adopted a new mission statement, and reorganized into the university structure with three academic schools.  Beyond Trinity 2000 formed the basis for institutional assessment in the 2006 Middle States self-study.  Achieving Trinity 2010 followed the 2006 Middle States review, and formed the basis for the 2011 Periodic Review Report.

Continuing the same format as the three previous plans, and with the ongoing intention to use the strategic plan as the platform for assessment and self-study,  Envision Trinity 2020 updates the goals and benchmarks of Achieving Trinity 2010, which built upon Beyond Trinity 2000.  Trinity believes that the fundamental statement of mission and strategic plan framework are sound, and continuing institutional progress across the span of these plans indicates the vitality of the plans and the annual review processes that support the work of implementation.
