Metro just announced that it is shutting down the entire Metrorail system for 29 hours, starting Tuesday night at midnight tonight, and continuing through 5:00 am Thursday morning, to conduct a complete safety check. All six Metrorail lines and all 91 stations will be closed during this entire time period.

Trinity will open on our regular schedule on Wednesday, and classes will be held all day and evening. However, those who cannot get to campus, or who are delayed, are excused.

Metrobuses will run as scheduled, but you can expect them to be at capacity and slightly delayed. Trinity will operate its shuttle to and from the Brookland station on the regular schedule, since many buses stop at that station.

This is a breaking news story. We do not have any more information at this time, but wanted to make this announcement as soon as possible. If we learn more, we will provide additional e-mail messages and update this page. You can also learn more on the Metro website: www.wmata.com

As always, please use your best judgment about traveling to and from campus.
