Trinity is OPEN on Wednesday, January 27 and will open on time on Thursday, January 28. Classes and Metro shuttle running on schedule.

Message from President McGuire, January 26, 2016:

Dear Students and Colleagues,

Trinity will be OPEN on Wednesday, January 27, and all classes will go on as scheduled.  The shuttle will run a regular schedule (starting at 7:00 am, every 20 minutes).  The Trinity Center will be open on time, and classes at THEARC will go on as scheduled.

Because we realize that conditions in some neighborhoods are still not good due to snow, and Metro may still have some issues, our “open” message comes with these understandings:

1.   If you cannot make it to class or work, you are excused.  We ask faculty to be lenient in excusing student absences.  We ask supervisors to be lenient in excusing staff absences.  When bad weather strikes, everyone must make prudent decisions and no one should incur any penalties if you decide you cannot travel to Trinity tomorrow.

2.   If you are a faculty member and you cannot make it to class, please use the course cancellation system with the instructions that you have previously received.

3.   If you are driving:  the snow emergency remains in effect until 6 pm so there is NO PARKING on Michigan Avenue or other snow emergency routes.  For this reason, we will accommodate as many cars as possible on campus tomorrow regardless of whether you have a parking sticker.

4.  If you are a resident student with a car buried under snow on campus, please start digging out because that gets in the way of other cars.  If you need assistance, please contact Facilities.

I appreciate everyone’s patience and courtesy as we get back up and running.  The campus is in good shape thanks to the very hard work of our Facilities team, and we are so grateful to all of the staff in Facilities, Food Service and Security who spent many days on campus during the storm and afterward.

While the campus is ready for operations, we have snow banks and areas where melting will cause big puddles, so please wear boots and be careful walking around, and also please be careful driving.  Slow down and make sure that other drivers can see you.   If you see an icy patch on the walkways or roads, please contact Facilities so they can respond with de-icer immediately.

I look forward to seeing you back on campus tomorrow!!

With thanks to all,  President Pat McGuire
