CLOSED! Friday, January 22, Update: Trinity is NOW CLOSED, and Will Continue to Be Closed Through Saturday and Sunday

Message from President McGuire, Thursday, January 21, 2016, With Updates

Given all of the weather reports, with snow predicted to start tomorrow afternoon (Friday) and to turn to blizzard conditions on Saturday, at this point it seems prudent to make this early announcement of Trinity’s status for the next three days.

Friday, January 22:  Trinity will CLOSE AT NOON  This means that all morning classes will go on as scheduled.  The Trinity Center will be open on time.  Staff should report on time.  But after the noon hour we will close and everyone can go home for the weekend!  There will be no afternoon or evening classes, no activities.  Food service will continue for resident students and security and facilities will be here.

Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24:  TRINITY IS CLOSED  The campus is entirely closed except for the resident students.  The Library, Trinity Center, Main Hall, etc. are all closed.  Do not even think of trying to travel on Saturday, and Sunday will be devoted to cleaning up after the storm.  Again, food service, security and facilities team members will be on campus (thank you!!) and resident students will have their meals and be safe and warm.

The Trinity Shuttle Bus will stop operating at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 22, 2016, and will not operate on Saturday or Sunday.

Dining Services:  Dining Services will be open all weekend and serving from Alumnae Hall. Seasons will be closed. Dining Services will provide food and beverages even if there is a power outage. Schedule:
Friday Breakfast 7:30-9:00/Lunch 11:30-1:30/Dinner 5:00-6:30
Saturday Brunch 11:30-1:30/Dinner 5:00-6:30
Sunday Brunch 11:30-1:30/Dinner 5:00-6:30

Michigan Avenue, Snow Emergency Route:  Please note that Michigan Avenue is a snow emergency route and the city enacted the snow emergency at 9:30 am on Friday, January 22. Do not park on Michigan Avenue – you will be towed by the city!  If you are here for morning classes on Friday and do not have a Trinity parking sticker, just this once you may park on campus without a sticker until your class is over.  Please check in at the guard booth for a temporary pass.

What about Monday?  We’ll see what happens over the weekend and will let you know on Sunday afternoon or evening what the status is for Monday.  A lot depends on how much snow we get and whether the city and counties are able to clear the roads.

Please note that the forecasts also are calling for high winds and possible power outages.  Please be sure you have flashlights and batteries in good working condition, and enough blankets, bottled water and non-perishable food to get you through any potential power disruption.  We have supplies on campus for the residents, but always urge our residents to have their own supplies as well.

Please be safe, and let’s all agree that one big taste of winter is more than enough!!
