Burgess receives Player of the Week Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Trinity Washington University junior guard Christa Burgess (Landover, Md.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. Burgess very nearly averaged a triple-double on the week with 11.7 points, 8.3 steals, 7.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as the Tigers went 3-0 on the week. On Jan. 30 against Christendom, she tallied a double-double with 11 points and 12 steals and she capped the week with another double-double as she scored 12 points and nabbed 13 boards against Philadelphia Bible on Feb. 4. Her best game may have come in the middle of the week on Feb. 1 when she put up 12 points, eight steals, six rebounds and seven assists in a win over Penn State York. Burgess is currently leading the nation in steals per game.
