In the last home game of the season, the Tigers entered Tuesday night’s game to take on the Phoenix from Wilson College with a chance to end their season with a winning record. The Tigers started off sluggish hitting only 10 for 26 and trailed Wilson at half by 9 points. The Tigers trailed most of the second half but were able to keep the game within reach. With 6 minutes left in the game on a steal by Charity Blackwell and a layup by LaShawna Ervin the Tigers tied the game 48-48 and the never looked back. The Tigers outscored Wilson in the second half 41-21.
Sophomore, LaShawna Ervin led the Tigers with 16 points, 4 assists and 2 steals. Senior, Danielle Owens continued her rebounding streak recording 19 on the night. Senior, Stefonie Kelly had 13 points and 7 rebounds followed by Sophomore, Thamar Polynice who netted in 12 for the Tigers. The Tigers finish the season 9-8.
It was the last home game for Seniors Danielle Owens and Stefonie Kelly both of whom have contributed a great deal of success to the basketball program and will truly be missed next season.
