On Tuesday afternoon a group of Trinity student-athletes attended the announcement by Vice President Biden regarding changes to Title IX.  Surrounded by women athletes and Olympians Vice President Biden announced that the Obama administration is rolling back a controversial Title IX compliance requirement enacted under the Bush administration. 

The 2005 policy allowed schools to rely on a survey to prove they were meeting interest in athletic programs for women. If female students failed to respond to the survey, schools were allowed to conclude that women were not interested in additional athletic programs and had no obligation to provide them. The new Education Department policy will require schools to provide stronger evidence that they are complying with Title IX.
