  1. Login to Moodle (http://moodle.trinitydc.edu/) with the same username and password you use for your Trinity email account.
  2. Once you are logged in, click on the course in which you wish to submit your assignment.
  3. Once in the course, locate the assignment. The assignment icon is a hand holding a piece of paper.
  4. Click on the assignment. You will be brought to the Assignment page.
  5. Review any directions. Verifying that the assignment is open for submission by reviewing the all the details listed under “Submission status.”
  6. Click the “Add submission” button to upload your file.
  7. On the next window, if you are supposed to upload a file, you will see a “File submissions” area.
  8. NOTE: If you do not see a “Files submissions” area but instead see an “Online text” area, your instructor has set up this assignment as an “Online text” assignment (not an assignment to which you can submit files). You must type (or cut-and-paste) your response into the area provided. Jump down to the “Online Text Submission” section for instructions.
  9. You can add your file in one of two ways:
    1. Dragging and dropping your file on to the “file submissions” space, or
    2. Clicking the “Add” icon and stepping through the process.
  10. To drag-and-drop your file, open a file explorer window on your computer.
  11. Click on the file to select it.
  12. While holding your mouse button down, drag the file from the file explorer window to the “File submissions” area on Moodle.
  13. Release your mouse. The file ‘drops’ into place.
  14. After your file is ‘dropped’ into place, to complete the submission process, YOU MUST CLICK THE “SAVE CHANGES” BUTTON, or your work will not be uploaded or saved.
  15. As mentioned before, you can also step through a process to add a file without dragging and dropping it.
  16. On the file submission screen, instead of dragging and dropping, click the “Add” icon (the piece of paper with the plus sign) in the upper left corner of the HTML editor.
  17. A “File picker” window will appear. Note: If a file picker window does not pop-up, you may still have your pop-up blocker enabled for moodle.trinitydc.edu. Follow these steps to disable your pop-up blocker for Trinity’s Moodle.
  18. In the “File picker,” make sure you are on the “Upload a file” screen.
  19. Click the “Choose file” button to go get your file from your computer.
  20. Navigate to the file you wish to upload. Click on the name of the file and click the “Open” button.
  21. This will return you to the “File Picker” window. Review the file name to make sure that this is the file you wish to upload.
  22. Scroll down and click the “Upload this file” button.
  23. This will bring you back to the Assignment submission screen. Your file will now be listed.
To complete the submission process, YOU MUST CLICK THE “SAVE CHANGES” BUTTON, or your work will not be uploaded or saved.

  24. You will be brought back to the main assignment activity page. You can verify that you have uploaded successfully by double-checking that your file is now listed under the “File submission” status.
  25. If your instructor has set up the assignment to allow for re-submissions, you’ll see an “Edit submission” button where the “Add submission” button used to be.
  26. NOTE: If your instructor wishes, they can require that you click an additional button to finalize your assignment submission. In this case, your submission status will read “Draft (not submitted)” and there will be a “Submit assignment” button at the bottom.
  27. At this point, you will need to click the “Submit assignment” button to finalize your submission.
  28. You may also need to check the submission statement on the next page. If you do, check the box and click the “Continue” button.
  29. Your assignment is now submitted. Verify with the submission status. You’ll notice now that you no longer have an “Edit submission” or “Submit assignment” button at the bottom of the page.
