Pre-registration is suggested for all fitness classes, but not required.  All classes with the exception of fee based classes are considered “drop-in.” Please sign up at the Membership office or call 202-884-9091 and charge it to your Visa, Mastercard or Discover card.

Fall Land Class Descriptions

October 1 – December 21, 2018

FALL QUARTER GROUP EXERCISE PROGRAMS— we highly recommend you see your physician prior to taking an exercise class. October 1 – December 21, 2018.  Sign-in sheet available each day of class.

LAND CLASSES DESCRIPTIONS

Accelerated Fitness:  Kick your existing routine up a notch!  A full body workout consisting of jumping drills, lunges, squats, running, push-ups, sit-ups, martial arts and kickboxing. TTH 6:30a—7:25a

Balanced Body Fitness:  Low impact circuit class geared towards people 40+ years looking to improve and maintain strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and range of motion using a variety of resistance equipment, balls and light weights.  Sat. 9:45a—10:45a 

Cardio Blast: Boost your cardio endurance with a complete body workout! TH 6:00p—6:55p

Cardio Interval: Boost your cardio endurance with a complete body workout! Tues. 7:00p—7:55p

Cultural Beat: Cultural Beat Fitness is a fun, vibrate, fresh and brand new spin on Afro Beat Dance. It’s a culmination of African & Caribbean Dance Culture. You will learn traditional & modern dances from each culture while working on cardio, strengthening, toning & losing weight. Get ready to have fun, learn, sweat & connect with others in a judgement free environment. MW 6:00p—7:00p

Deep Stretch: A class focused on full body active stretching of muscles and the opening of connective tissue in order to increase flexibility, mobility, and reduce stress on joints. This class utilizes simple spinal motion and warming of larger muscle groups to enhance the stretching experience and provide overall rejuvenation. Mon. 10:00a—10:30a

Just for Us – All female Boot Camp:  Our all-female boot camp will offer a judgement free zone for women to actively invest in their health and fitness.  Our boot camp will feature workouts to increase strength, endurance and flexibility.  Members—Free   Non-Members—$120.00 (6 Week Session) Wed. 7:30a—8:30a  Sat. 8:30a—9:30a

Meditation and Relaxation:  A powerful tool that helps manage stress, find inner peace, and improve mental function.           Fri. 12:15p—1:00p

Mixed Level Pilates:  Uses controlled movement to develop core strength (ribs to pelvis) and increase flexibility of the spine. MWF 11:00a—11:55a

Movement, Mindfulness & Meditation:  A beginning breath work and energetic field cleansing then progressing into guided mindfulness meditation  Wed. 8:30a—9:15a

Senior Strength:  This low impact, high intensity  class improves muscle tone, strength, and flexibility by utilizing light weights. Mon. 9:00a—9:55a

Senior Strength & Movement w/ Sylvia:  This low impact class improves muscle tone, strength, and flexibility by utilizing light weights. Wed. 10:00a—10:55a

Straight up Strength:  A class full of total body conditioning  routines that involve both strength and cardio exercises. This class is designed to change each week to target all major muscles groups in a variety of ways. The use of resistance and cardio training techniques to improve your endurance and help you build strength is the focus. TTH 5:00p—5:55p

Tai Chi:  An Ancient Chinese tradition that is practiced as a graceful form of low impact cardio exercise.

Zumba Gold: Fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program.

AQUATIC CLASSES  DESCRIPTIONS

Aqua Body Boot Camp Workout: An hour long workout which includes strengthening and toning exercises for abs, arms, and legs with a cardiovascular foundation. Dumbbells, water noodles and playground kick balls will be used to increase resistance and intensity for the whole body. This class is designed for the more advanced water aerobics participants. Note: Participants  must bring their own water resistance  ball (see instructor for details). MTWTH 10am -10:55am; Cost: $65; Candice Parrish

**NEW CLASS** Aqua Power Circuit with Motown! Swim and sing your way through the hits with this cardio fueled workout featuring the musical stylings of Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, The Jackson 5 and more! This all levels aquatic class fuses weight training cardio with the use of circuit training to increase your strength and cardiovascular endurance. M&F 7am –7:55am & Sat. 11am—11:55am; Cost: $65; Aunyea Carr

**NEW CLASS** Water dance party Workout with Trap & More! Turn up your normal fitness routine with this lit aqua dance party! Channel your inner celebrity while toning your tush and working those abs with your favorite dance moves to hits from Cardi B, Migos, Beyonce and more! All levels are welcome. TTH 6pm –7pm; Cost: $50; Aunyea Carr      

Impact Water Aerobics: An hour-long high and low impact water aerobics class designed to strengthen and tone the total body. Extra time is given to performing basic aerobic moves correctly for maximum benefit. Participants also become better acquainted with their bodies to discover what works best for them. The class moves in  shallow water most of the time.   It is suitable for all levels. MWF 8:30 am – 9:30 am; Cost: $50; Anita Drayton

Shallow/Deep Water Aerobics: This is a swim water aerobics class. Moving from shallow to deep water using fins/flippers, wheee! We will also use dumbbells, kickboards, water noodles and playground kick balls which will increase resistance and intensity for the whole body. This hour long workout includes strengthening and toning exercises for abs, arms, and legs with a  cardiovascular foundation. You will also fine-tune your swim form by working on breathing and various swim strokes. Swim experience is required. TTH 11am -11:55am; Cost: $50; Candice Parrish

We now offer several tennis programs for children and adults (Members and Non-members)! Contact the Membership Office for a full schedule and description of our Fall Tennis Programs, including:

Special Programs

Personal Training

One-on-one Personal Training sessions are available.  Sessions are by appointment only. Contact the Membership Office for more information. Member $65 per hour session or 3 sessions for $175

Private Swim Lessons

We offer private youth (3+ yrs) and adult swim lessons. Sessions are for 30 minutes and are booked by appointment only. Member $30 per session / Non-Members $50 per session

Private “Hydro Training”

Perfect for people who love the water. Personal training in the water! Sessions are for 60 minutes and are booked by appt. only. Member $65 per session or 3 sessions for $175

Private Tennis Lessons

One-on-one and small group tennis lessons are available for youth and adults. By appointment only. Members only $60 for 60-minute session 

Fitness Assessments

Track your fitness progress by starting off with a Fitness Assessment!  Assessments gauge your current cardiovascular and muscle endurance and includes body composition measurements.  Sessions are free and by appointment only.  Contact the Membership Office for more information.
