The Crisis Assessment, Response and Education (CARE) Team was established in Fall 2013 for the purpose of evaluating and responding to students who are experiencing crisis; demonstrating disruptive, threatening, or troubling behaviors; or who are engaging in other behaviors that may be perceived as being harmful to the student individually, or to others. As a part of this work the Team also seeks to help identify trends and needs for education programs, support, guidance, or other interventions and partnerships with community resources.
The CARE Team can follow up (directly or indirectly) with persons who display behaviors of concern and connect them with appropriate resources as warranted. The Vice President for Student Affairs provides administrative oversight for the Team.
The CARE Team includes representatives from the following areas: Student Affairs, the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and Graduate Studies, the School of Education, the School of Nursing and Health Professions, the School of Professional Studies, Enrollment Services and the Health and Wellness Center. For specific situations the Team will consult with designated liaisons in Residence Life and Campus Housing, Academic Services, General Counsel and Public Safety who have subject area expertise.
Reporting Students of Concern
Concerns should be reported to the Vice President for Student Affairs. Referral reports from Enrollment Service, Academic Deans, Academic Advisors, Dean of Student Services or Provost, Public Safety, Campus Housing or others will be forwarded to the CARE team via the Vice President for Student Affairs.
