School of Professional Studies | WORKSHOP: Math Review of Fractions, Decimals, and Percents

WORKSHOP: Math Review of Fractions, Decimals, and Percents

Friday, November 15, 6:30 pm - Science 313

Need to buy a car or a house? You cannot enter a bank without seeing some reference to a fraction, decimal, or percent, or all three! If you go to a department or grocery store, and they are having a seasonal sale, discounts in terms of percents rule! Health insurance deductibles (what you pay out-of-pocket) are in terms of percents. The daily stock market reports involve, for example, percent changes (up or down!) in the value of stocks. Bottom line, we cannot escape the importance and the essential role that fractions, decimals, and percents play in our daily lives!

This workshop will review the fundamental principles of how to deal with fractions, decimals, and percents, and how we can convert from one to the other.

Taught by SPS Adjunct Professor Joe Fred Gonzalez, Jr.
