We are in that beautiful time of year when we light candles to express our faith, our solidarity, our relentless hope as a rays of light that penetrate the long winter night.\u00a0 In the Catholic and Christian world, we celebrate the birth of the Messiah, the sign and symbol of our hope for ultimate redemption from human frailties and salvation.<\/p>\n

\"nativity-6\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Season of Light 2016 comes at the end of a particularly bruising year.\u00a0 The presidential election left many feeling exhausted, hurt and worried.\u00a0 But beyond presidential politics, the last twelve months also brought moments of great sorrow and anguish as a result of terrorist acts, police shootings and retaliatory shootings of police, struggles over human and civil rights in too many communities, while, at the same time, we seem to see no end to poverty and its miseries, shrinkage of once-lofty goals for equality of opportunity, and even questioning the fundamental moral principles of democracy like freedom of speech and religion.<\/p>\n

Our nation and world need this Season of Light very much right now.\u00a0 We pause to reflect, to pray, and to replenish hope in a brighter future.\u00a0 Let’s take full advantage of this moment to regenerate our own commitment to be people of light and hope, forces for charity and justice for those who need the strong and clear voices of Trinity.<\/p>\n

\"dome\"<\/a>For all of the great Trinity family, thank you for the many gifts you have shared with each other, with our students and faculty, and with Trinity throughout the year.\u00a0 My gratitude goes with you each day, and I hope that this Christmas and holiday season will be a time of real joy for you.<\/p>\n
