(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>Cold, wet and windy &#8212; Adirondack weather in the summer can go from hot and humid to November-like in a heartbeat.\u00a0 Many of the wild things seem to be staying deep in their lairs this summer as the low temperatures and rainy days make staying in bed so attractive&#8230;!\u00a0 But the loons are irrepressible!\u00a0 They are out on the lakes preening and doing the usual loon things&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trinitydc.edu\/president\/files\/2014\/07\/LOON-2-Large1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4622\" alt=\"LOON 2 (Large)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trinitydc.edu\/president\/files\/2014\/07\/LOON-2-Large1-710x360.jpg\" width=\"540\" height=\"273\" 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>I have not seen any loon chicks&#8230; perhaps I arrived too late in the season this year.\u00a0 But the mergansers and other ducks are keeping their little gaggles in (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>All along the lakesides, the chatter of belted kingfishers is loud, but these little birds are very hard to capture in a photo since they dart from limb to water and back again very swiftly.\u00a0 I got just one frame of this one high up in a pine tree:<\/p>\n<p><a
