President Reagan’s Funeral

TO: The Trinity College Community

FROM: President Patricia McGuire

As the nation and city pause to salute President Reagan and mourn his passing, Trinity also remembers his years of service and leadership for the nation with respect and gratitude.

Because we have orientation for new students scheduled to take place on Friday, June 11, 2004, Trinity will be OPEN all day. We do not have many classes or other events slated to take place on that date. We do, however, need to proceed with the orientation program, and those few classes and events previously scheduled for the day will continue as originally planned.

Staff who are not involved in the orientation program may use a day of general leave on Friday if you would like to observe the day in that manner. Staff, faculty and students who are here may choose to take time to watch the televised proceedings if you wish, and I ask supervisors to be understanding of these preferences.

The media advisories about traffic for the next three days are quite detailed, so you should check out your transportation plans with the help of www.wtopnews.com or one of the other media websites with traffic advisories.

Area police are urging commuters to expect delays on the Beltway at certain times and along Constitution Avenue and major downtown arteries. Supervisors should also be understanding of late arrivals and early departures due to traffic issues during the next three days.

We are staying abreast of developments in traffic advisories and various closures, and I ask you to check your email and voicemail periodically for any changes in this announcement.

Thank you.
