Trinity to Host Speaker-Designate Nancy Pelosi ’62 at MSNBC Town Hall with Joy Reid

The interview will be incoming Speaker Pelosi’s first major television event after being sworn in as Speaker of the House on January 3, 2019.

 

Nancy Pelosi at TrinityTrinity Washington University is honored to be hosting incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a member of Trinity’s Class of 1962, for a town hall on Friday, January 4, 2019. Joy Reid, MSNBC political analyst and host of “AM Joy,” will moderate the town hall which will air at 10 pm on MSNBC.

Participation in the town hall is by invitation only, and seating is already full. The university encourages all friends of Trinity to enjoy watching the Town Hall at 10 pm on Friday evening.

Trinity Washington University (historically Trinity College) was founded in 1897 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur as the nation’s first Catholic liberal arts college for women. In addition to Speaker Pelosi, well known graduates include Kathleen Sebelius, Class of 1970, who was Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Obama Administration and also elected twice as the governor of Kansas; Maggie Williams, Class of 1977, who was chief of staff to First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and assistant to President Bill Clinton; Kellyanne Conway, Class of 1989, White House Counselor for the Trump Administration; Susan Flood Burk, Class of 1976, Ambassador for Nuclear Non-Proliferation during the Obama Administration; Rosemary M. Collyer, Class of 1968, presiding judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court; and many other distinguished public leaders.

Trinity today enrolls 2,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs; more than half of Trinity’s students today are residents of the District of Columbia and the student body is 95% African American and Latina.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid Moderates Town Hall at Trinity Washington University — Airing Friday, January 4, 2019, at 10 p.m. ET

DECEMBER 21, 2018 – MSNBC will feature incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in “The Speaker: An MSNBC Town Hall” moderated by MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Friday, January 4. The interview will be incoming Speaker Pelosi’s first major television event after being sworn in as Speaker of the House.

The town hall will air at 10 p.m. ET on MSNBC at Pelosi’s alma mater, Trinity Washington University, the nation’s first Catholic liberal arts college for women.

Incoming Speaker Pelosi will share her legislative agenda, examine the race within the Democratic Party for the presidential nomination, discuss her thoughts on the Trump administration and more. The town hall will also feature questions from audience members.

Nancy Pelosi is the Democratic Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives for the 115th Congress. From 2007 to 2011, Pelosi served as Speaker of the House, the first woman to do so in American history. For more than 16 years, she has led House Democrats and previously served as House Democratic Whip.

Joy Reid is a MSNBC Political Analyst and host of “AM Joy,” which airs weekends from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. ET on MSNBC.
