Kiauna Hemsley Named Student-Athlete of the Month by the Association of Division III Independents

Kiauna Hemsley, a sophomore forward on Trinity’s soccer team, was named a recipient of the Association of Division III Independents Student-Athlete of the Month award for September 2009. The association selects one female and one male student-athlete of the month.

Hemsley, of Baltimore, Maryland, led the Trinity Tigers with eight goals and one assist in 10 games.  With strong foot skills and field awareness, she has scored four game-winning goals, all of which were 1-0 wins against Patrick Henry College, Washington Adventist University and Lincoln University. Hemsley was named the women’s soccer player of the week by the Association of Division III Independents for the first week of September.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 14 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions.  The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.

All competing student-athletes from the Association’s 14 members were eligible for the award.  Each school was allowed to nominate its top performing male and female student-athletes from September.  The award recipients were selected after a vote of the Association’s Student-Athlete Recognition Committee.
