Trinity Hosts Costco D.C. Scholarship Fund Breakfast

Trinity will host the second annual Costco D.C. Scholarship Fund Breakfast in the Trinity Center on Wednesday, September 16. The fundraiser will bring together more than 500 business and education leaders and will raise scholarship funds for the D.C. College Success Foundation. Costco Wholesale is the lead corporate sponsor of this fundraiser.

D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee and Trinity President Patricia McGuire will speak at the event and News4 anchor Jim Vance will be the master of ceremonies. The keynote speaker is Erin Gruwell, a teacher whose class of “unteachable, at-risk” students grew into the “Freedom Writers.”  With her support, they transformed their lives, published a book, inspired a motion picture and became aspiring college students.

The D.C. College Success Foundation provides academic enrichment and mentoring to low-income D.C. students, encourages them to pursue a college degree, and provides scholarships for them to attend college. More than 20 Trinity students are D.C. Achiever Scholars and receive scholarships from the D.C. College Success Foundation.

“The D.C. College Success Foundation is an important organization that is providing tremendous support, both academically and financially, to D.C. students,” said President McGuire. “We are very pleased and honored to host the Costco D.C. Scholarship Fund Breakfast.”

This is a ticketed event.
