April 28, 2009 - Trinity graduate and former governor of Kansas Kathleen Gilligan Sebelius ’70 was confirmed today by the full U.S. Senate to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Just hours later, she was sworn into office by President Barack Obama in an Oval Office ceremony at the White House, and officially joined his Cabinet on the eve of his 100th day in office. Secretary Sebelius was nominated to the position on March 2; her confirmation hearing was held by the Senate Finance Committee on April 2. Continue reading
April 24, 2009 - Eight juniors and seniors were inducted into the Trinity Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national communication honor society, at a ceremony on April 23, 2009. Continue reading
April 23, 2009 - Five students were inducted as full members into Trinity’s chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, and seven were inducted as associate members at a ceremony on April 21, 2009. Continue reading
April 22, 2009 - Brigid Otieno ’09 was awarded a distinguished Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in South Korea for a year. Otieno, an international affairs major who was born in Kenya and grew up in upstate New York, is an Intelligence Scholar at Trinity. Last year she was selected to participate in the highly competitive Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer program at Howard University. She was recently elected to Phi Beta Kappa. April 21, 2009 - Eleven Trinity students enrolled in the School of Professional Studies were inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda, the national honor society for adult students, at a ceremony on April 20, 2009. Continue reading
