College Goal Sunday: February 10

Trinity will host College Goal Sunday on February 10, from  2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., to assist all college-bound students in the Washington area as they complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — the form required by colleges and universities to qualify for scholarships, grants and loans.  Trinity staff will be available in Main Hall on the campus to provide free assistance as the students complete the FAFSA online; students do not need to apply to Trinity to take advantage of this free service.

All college bound students are invited to receive free help. The primary goal is to make sure that the first step to financial aid is completed and completed accurately so funds can be made available to those striving for a higher education.   The financial aid process can be daunting and by offering students College Goal Sunday — one day of help to accurately fill out the FAFSA — at Trinity and other sites in the mid-Atlantic, thousands of students will begin this important process easily and confidently.

If students are 23 years or younger, they should attend with a parent or guardian. They should bring their parents’ completed IRS 1040 tax form, W-2 form or other 2007 income and benefits information. If students are 24 years or older, they may attend alone and bring their own completed IRS 1040 tax return, W-2 form or other 2007 income or benefits information.

College Goal Sunday is a one-day event that will help thousands of students the mid-Atlantic region cross the paper barrier to qualify for financial aid.  As more students who fill out the FAFSA correctly, more students will receive needed funds to attend a higher education institution.

College Goal Sunday, a non-profit program, is a collaboration sponsored by the DE-DC-MD Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Inc. (ASFAA).
