Beyond Graduation

The following testimonials are from Trinity’s 2007

My favorite memories of Trinity include being able to be part of the soccer and lacrosse teams. Every time Trinity had a home game where we could wear our new white jerseys was a favorite moment. Just being able to stand out in the beautiful cut grass, with fellow Trinity peers cheering for you, made it a favorite memory.

I would like to thank Dr. Mary Reintsma and Dr. Christina Parsons for my successful graduation. Both were my economics professors and they were always there for me whenever I needed someone to talk to or any advice.

Master of Science in Administration

My favorite memory of Trinity was the first day I started my undergraduate program in 1987. It was the start of my dream of completing a degree. My second most favorite memory was being accepted into the MSA program. I would like to thank my daughters and Dr. Barry-Oliver for helping me graduate. I was so proud to be in the MSA program with my daughter, Latasha.

After graduation, I plan to start a business assisting women of all ages to return to school and with other issues that affect single moms.

My Trinity education gave me confidence to fulfill my dreams, and I will miss the classes and group interactions.

After graduation, I will be relocating to Atlanta, GA, where I would like to start a consulting business. I always dreamed of starting a business. Before completing the MSA program, I was interested in working in my field in the Washington, DC area, but the knowledge and skills I received from this program encouraged me to seek opportunities in starting my own business.

The MSA program at Trinity has equipped me with resources I need to succeed in business and my future. The small setting and closeness that Trinity offers is great. One of my biggest fears was completing my capstone project, and Dr. Barry-Oliver made this course exciting and rewarding. Her dedication and commitment were outstanding. I would like to thank all of the professors that I had in the program. All of my courses in the MSA program were beneficial to me and I will use the knowledge and skills I received in my future plans.

Trinity has grown since my days of being an undergraduate student; however, the warm and friendly environment and people are still the same. I believe Trinity is an awesome choice for every kind of woman: traditional college student, single mother, working mom and returning student. Trinity gives women a sense of belonging and fulfillment of knowing that everyone can achieve.

Master of Science in Administration

After graduation, I will be taking the School Leaders Licensure Assessment exam, enrolling in a doctorate program pursuing a doctor of education in educational leadership, and plan to work as an assistant principal in a public school. I had not originally planned to take the SLLA exam until next year, but my experience at Trinity encouraged me to take on this challenge much sooner.

To give back to society, I will continue to donate my time and efforts by encouraging young people to continue their education. I will continue to work with the students at my current school.
My favorite memories of Trinity include my classes and participating in the marketing campaign for the School of Education (I am now recognized in many of the Prince George’s County Public Schools since having my picture on the cover of the School of Education brochure).

I would like to thank Mrs. Tammy McCants, Dr. Gwendolyn Bryant, Dr. Robert Redmond, the entire School of Education staff, and of course President McGuire for their part in my success.

After graduation, I plan to go to law school for either environmental law or law related to women’s issues. I currently work at N Street Village for Homeless Women as a programs assistant. I will also volunteer at the Northwest Pregnancy Center, where I will be trained to counsel young mothers and encourage them to continue their education.

I had originally planned to pursue a career in industry with my degrees in chemistry and environmental science. However, considering all the activities that I have taken part in both at Trinity and home in Trinidad and Tobago, I realize I have always had aspirations for a career centered on women’s issues and social justice issues.

I have so many wonderful memories of Trinity but my two favorite memories are attending morning Mass with the SNDs and singing at the courtyard sing on Cap and Gown Sunday dressed from head to toe in my gold class colors.

It was not easy for me to get to graduation day but hard work and prayer were essential. From being a Cuneen fellow my freshwoman year, to being tennis team captain, to peer tutoring, to getting a NASA internship through my science professors, to being invited to the Board of Trade awards dinner in honor of our very own President McGuire, I can definitely say that Trinity has molded me for global leadership from day one and I have enjoyed every moment of it.
