Java Security Settings

You may receive the following errors due to recent changes with Java:

  • Application Blocked by Security Settings

  • The application cannot be run

For best experience with Trinity online resources, update your Java settings by following the instructions below. Only apply this once.

I have a Windows computer

  1. Click on Start | All Programs | Java | Configure Java
  2. Click on the Security tab.

  3. Under Exception Site List, click on Edit Site List.
  4. If you are accessing IPTV, add the following two websites:
    • http://iptv.trinitydc.edu
    • http://mn-sr-iptvlic.trinity-its.trinitydc.edu
  5. If you are accessing Secure Access VPN, add the following website:
    • https://sslvpn.trinitydc.edu
  6. OK out of the Java Control Panel and restart your web browser.

I have an Apple computer

  1. Open the Java Control Panel:
    1. Click the Apple icon on the upper left of screen.
    2. Go to System Preferences.
    3. Click on the Java icon to access the Java Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Security tab.
  3. Under Exception Site List, click on Edit Site List.
  4. If you are accessing IPTV, add the following two websites:
    • http://iptv.trinitydc.edu
    • http://mn-sr-iptvlic.trinity-its.trinitydc.edu
  5. If you are accessing Secure Access VPN, add the following website:
    • https://sslvpn.trinitydc.edu
  6. OK out of the Java Control Panel.
  7. Open the Safari browser’s Preferences.
  8. Under the Security Tab, click on Manage Website Settings.
  9. Select Java.
  10. If accessing IPTV, configure iptv.int.trinitydc.edu to Run in Unsafe Mode.
  11. If accessing Secure Access VPN, configure sslvpn.trinitydc.edu to Run in Unsafe Mode.
  12. Restart your computer for changes to take effect.
