Facilitator: Sarah Wilson, Director of Academic Administration
Using Joseph M. Williams’s Style: Lessons in Clarity and Grace as our guide, this class will examine a number of choices that writers can make to improve the clarity in their business writing. We will consider—and practice and experience—the positive effects of utilizing actions, characters, cohesion and coherence, and emphasis in our business writing.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Understand how using actions and characters in sentences increases their effectiveness;
- Practice techniques for achieving cohesion and coherence; and
- Apply principles of emphasis in sentence and paragraph construction.
Participants should bring a pen/pencil and some paper.
