Job Purpose: The student will serve as a troop leader/mentor for elementary and/or middle school girls for a 6-8 week period. The girls are not in an active troop and the student will be starting them on their Girl Scout journeys. Girl Scout staff will assign the student to the school(s) and/or community center(s). Meeting plans and supplies are provided.
Description of Duties: The student will be responsible for conducting troop meetings at each site on a weekly basis for one hour. Prior to meetings, the student will prepare by reviewing the meeting plans and ensuring that she has all the supplies needed for the meeting. During that meeting, the students are expected to follow the provided meeting plan. Students must dress and act in a professional manner when working at site(s). After each meeting, the student is expected to record information on our website. The student reports to and is supervised by the Girl Scout Membership Specialist.
Qualifications: we are seeking organized, professional, and independent young adults, who can serve as positive role models to young girls. You must be passionate about encouraging girls, showing them their potential, and exposing them to all the possibilities in the world. an interest in education or social work is helpful but not required.
All students must pass a background check. Students must complete a 3 hour training session. You must be able and willing to travel to your assigned site(s) using metro, bus, or car if you have one available. Travel costs will be reimbursed.
