LIFT Communities – Community Advocate (Federal Work Study Only)


Job Purpose: The mission of LIFT is to help community members achieve economic stability and well-being by calling upon students, young adults, and passionate professionals to engage in direct community service and take leadership in the effort to connect all people in the United States to valuable community resources.

Description of Duties: Community Advocates work one on one with local residents to find jobs, secure safe and stable housing, apply for public benefits, and obtain quality referrals for services like childcare and healthcare. Advocates work at the frontline of our mission to help lift people out of poverty for good.

Qualifications: We ask that advocates come in with strong communicating skills, a willingness to learn, and a passion for helping others. Spanish speaking skills preferred, though not required. The ability to work in four hour blocks is preferred; e.g.:

  • Monday 8:45am-1:00pm/12:45pm-5:00pm
  • Tuesday 8:45am-1:00pm
  • Wednesday 8:45am-1:00pm/12:45pm-5:00pm
  • Thursday 8:45am-1:00pm/12:45pm-5:00pm
  • Friday 8:45am-1:00pm/12:45pm-5:00pm
