Director of Donor Relations


Trinity, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks an experienced development professional to manage the university’s stewardship programs and development operations.  Building off the successful $35 million campaign, the Director of Donor Relations will develop and implement a comprehensive stewardship program and strengthen the development operation in preparation for the University’s next campaign.

Reporting to the Executive Director for Development and Alumnae Relations, the Director of Donor Relations will be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of the Development office.  He/she will supervise all data and financial activities for the office, all scholarships and stewardship activity, manage a portfolio of major gift and planned giving prospects, and supervises a staff of two.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and ten or more years of development, volunteer management, special events, or other related experience.   He/she will have demonstrated success in a higher education and/or campaign setting. Great oral and written communication skills are essential, along with a willingness to travel, to work occasional evenings and weekends, and to manage a wide range of interpersonal relationships effectively.  He/she must have a commitment to the values and mission of Trinity Washington University.  English/Spanish bilingual is also desirable.

Founded in 1897 as one of the nation’s first Catholic colleges for women, Trinity today is a 2100-student diversified university that continues the historic women’s college as the College of Arts & Sciences, along with four other coeducational units in professional education in Education, Nursing/Health Professions, Professional Studies, and Business/Graduate Studies.  Trinity has about 12,000 alumnae and alumni, with the majority residing in the metropolitan Washington area.
