Dean of Business and Graduate Programs


 Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks a strong academic leader as the university’s first Dean of Business and Graduate Programs.  Resident in Trinity’s School of Professional Studies and reporting to the Provost, the new dean will have the opportunity to build strong undergraduate and graduate programs in business, and graduate programs in related fields.  The new dean will work in cooperation with the continuing Dean of the School of Professional Studies who supervises the undergraduate programs in the school.

Currently enrolling about 300 students in the M.B.A., M.S.A., M.A. in Communication/Media Studies and M.A. in International Security Studies, Trinity seeks to develop enrollments in these programs through strategic initiatives that will include new concentrations, greater online delivery, executive programs and other formats.  The new dean will be responsible to develop plans for strategic initiatives that will enhance program quality and reputation as well as enrollment growth.  Additional programs beyond the current offerings will also be part of strategic planning.

Trinity today enrolls more than 2,600 students in four academic units.  The School of Professional Studies enrolls more than 900 working professionals in undergraduate and graduate programs.  The College of Arts and Sciences is Trinity’s historic undergraduate women’s college with more than 1,000 students.  The School of Education delivers graduate degrees for teachers, administrators and counselors, and the School of Nursing and Health Professions enrolls more than 250 students in nursing and occupational therapy.

Candidates should have at least ten years of increasingly responsible executive experience including experience in business as well as academe, both teaching and in administration. An M.B.A. or equivalent degree in business or a related field is essential, doctorate preferred.  Candidates must demonstrate excellence in writing and oral communication; a strong track record of successful program development and innovation; knowledge of contemporary issues in developing creative academic business programs; and clear experience developing external networks among business leaders to build internship and clinical opportunities.
