UNDER THE LIGHTS…

- The Trinity Tigers soccer battled for 90 minutes Monday night as both teams went into halftime knotted in a defensive battle tied 0-0. Gallaudet doubled up Trinity on shots, 10-5, and took nine corner kicks.  In the second half, Gallaudet found the back of the net when Virginia Keeler unleashed a strong shot past new Tiger goalie Cristina Martinez (five saves) to give GU the 1-0 lead. Gallaudet limited the Tigers to four shots and one corner kick in the second half.   The Tigers had their chances they just couldn’t find the back of the net.

TIGERS WIN!

- The Trinity Tigers soccer team came away this weekend Champions of the Inaugural Gallaudet Tournament.  On Saturday the Tigers took the field against Patrick Henry playing their best soccer of the season.  It was scoreless until the 35th minute when Allison Evans placed a perfect ball from the defensive third to Kiauna Hemsley who was waiting at midfield.  Kiauna took on one defender down the left side beating the goalie with a perfectly placed shot.  In the second half the Tigers would have more chances to score but came up short had and relied on the stellar play of the defense.  Allison …

Evans receives Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer player of the Week Award

- For Immediate Release September 14, 2009 Kansas City, Mo. – Trinity Washington University senior defender Allison Evans (Chevy Chase, Md.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer player of the week.  Evans anchored the defense in two shutout victories for the Tigers, resulting in a pair of 1-0 scores over both Patrick Henry and Washington Adventist.  Additionally, she provided the assist on the game-winner over Patrick Henry.

VOLLEYBALL TRI-MATCH

- The Trinity Tigers Volleyball team faced Washington Bible College on Tuesday, September 8th and although they came up short they played their best game of the season, scoring 15 points in the 2nd and 3rd game.  Lakia Meriwether led the Tigers with 3 attack points. On Saturday the Tigers travelled to College of Notre Dame for a tri-match.  In their match against CND Ellen Bethea recorded 4 attack points, 9 received serves and 5 digs.

Hemsley receives Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week award

- For Immediate Release September 8, 2009 KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Trinity Washington University sophomore forward Kiauna Hemsley (Washington, D.C.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s soccer Player of the Week. Hemsley led her team to an 8-0 win over Wilson College with three goals and an assist on nine shots on goal. She scored the team’s only goal in a narrow, 2-1, loss to College of Notre Dame and saw her shot with 10 seconds remaining bounce off the cross bar. On the week, she accumulated nine points.

TIGERS LOSE TOUGH ONE..

- September 4, 2009 The Trinity Tigers soccer team lost their first game of the season 2-1 against the College of Notre Dame Gators last night.  The Gators struck first with a goal from Kelsey Kempf in the 15th minute placing a beautiful free kick to the top right corner of the net.  The Tigers fought back scoring in the 23rd minute off a free kick by Macee Wray who found Kiauna Hemsley waiting inside the six yard box.   With a 1-1 score at half time both teams came out fighting in the second half and it wasn’t until the 83rd …

TIGERS BLANK WILSON…

- September 1, 2009 The Trinity Tigers opened the 2009 season in front of a packed crowd of fans. The Tigers dominated Wilson College rolling to an 8-0 victory.   Macee Wray opened up the scoring in the 12th minute with a shot from outside the 18 yard line finding the upper right corner of the net.  In the 23rd minute, Charity Blackwell made a beautiful pass across the goal to Kiauna Hemsley who in return sent a short pass to Courtney Haines which resulted in a line drive past the goalie.
