TIGERS FALL AT HOME

- The Trinity Tigers Basketball team came up short in a home contest Saturday afternoon against Newport News Apprentice School. Newport News used a balanced attack, which produced four players in double figures and gave them a 58-74 victory. Trinity was led by Senior Lauren Hall who had a game high 17 points followed by Senior Ashley West with 14. The Tigers are back in action on Thursday against AWCC conference leader the College of Notre Dame. Game time is at 7:00 pm.

POOR SHOOTING STALLS TIGERS

- A poor shooting night resulted in the Trinity Tigers basketball team dropping their third game in AWCC play. The College of Notre Dame topped the Tigers 52-65 on Thursday night in Baltimore. The Tigers shot a dismal 28.6% on the night and trailed by 11 points at intermission. The Tigers scored the first four points of the second half to cut the lead to seven, but they would get no closer. Senior, Lauren Hall led the Tigers with 19 points. TIGERS LOSE IN CONFERENCE PLAY

- The Trinity basketball team hit the road Tuesday night for a conference game against Mary Baldwin College. A sluggish start put the Tigers behind 9-0 in the first three minutes of play. The team rallied but fell short at half-time, trailing 34-32. The second half saw the Tigers take the lead by 4 points, but they could not hang on as Mary Baldwin defeated Trinity 80-64. Lauren Hall led the Tigers with 21 points followed by Shereese Russell with 15. The Tigers fall to 2-2 in the conference and 5-7 overall. The Tigers play at the College of Notre Dame …

Tigers Rally after Sluggish Start

- The Trinity basketball team has not had a win against Hood College since January 21, 2003. Hood has handed the Tigers seven consecutive losses, but that all changed Wednesday night at the Trinity Center as the Tigers defeated Hood 61-44. Hood College held the lead throughout the first twenty minutes of play and ended the half leading 24-21. The second half of play belonged entirely to the Tigers. WEST AWCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

- ASHLEY WEST, SENIOR, 6-2 CENTER FROM FORESTVILLE, MARYLAND In the first two Atlantic Women’s Colleges Conference games, West averaged 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds for the Trinity Tigers. She scored a game high 27 points and had 17 rebounds in a win over Wilson College on January 11th followed by 14 points in Trinity’s loss to Chatham on January 13th. West shot 56.6 percent from the field in the two games, making 17 of 30 shots.

Basketball drops a close one

- The basketball team dropped a close game to conference rival Chatham College this past Saturday. With the lead changing several times throughout the game, the Tigers could not hold on at that end and lost 57-50. Ashley West, a senior from Forestville, MD, led the Tigers with 16 points followed by Lauren Hall, senior, with 14 points and first year Preshuse Jackson with 13 points. Trinity falls to 1-1 in AWCC conference play and 4-6 overall. The Tigers will play host to conference opponent Hood College on Wednesday, January 17 at 7pm.

Tigers start off New Year with Victory!

- The Tigers basketball team hit the road Thursday night for their first game of the New Year and pulled out an impressive 58-40 Athlantic Women’s College Conference victory over the Phoenix of Wilson College. Center, Ashely West (Forestville, MD) had total control in the paint as she shot 11 for 19 from the field and finished with a game high 27 points and 17 rebounds. Shereese Russell (Prince Frederick, MD) and Lauren Hall (Baltimore, MD) both chipped in with 8 points to help the Tigers improve their record to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
