An L.P.C. is authorized to do work in schools, communities and private practices. The program is National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (N.C.A.T.E.) accredited and meets state certification requirements of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia; it consists of required courses, laboratory and field experiences, and a comprehensive exam.<\/p>\n<p>The School of Education has submitted an initial application and self-study for accreditation for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling programs with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cacrep.org\/\">Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs<\/a>\u00a0(CACREP).<\/p>\n<p>Learning experiences emphasize the integration of theoretical knowledge with professional practice in a supervised setting. Attention is given to understanding ethical, multicultural, socioeconomic, and developmental issues. Graduates from Trinity's counseling degree programs are qualified to provide individual and group counseling; implement assessment and consultation services; and develop, direct, and evaluate comprehensive counseling services. Courses designated <a href=\"#EDTE\">EDTE<\/a> are largely specific to the M.A.T. teacher education program.
