Public Speaking Contest
Wednesday, April 10, 1:30 pm - 02:45 PM - AC 104
The Communication Program is sponsoring a public speaking contest on April 10, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. in AC 104. The contest is open to all College of Arts and Sciences’ students. The theme of this year’s contest is Voices from the Margins.
Bold new ideas in science and the humanities often come from the “fringes” or “peripheries” and not from established centers of power and authority. By choosing the theme Voices from the Margins for the 2019 Public Speaking Contest, the Communication Program hopes to encourage CAS students to present bold, creative ideas that may lead us to a better world.
Dates & Guidelines:
- Open to all CAS students.
- March 13, deadline for submitting speech topics (one per student) to Prof. Raúl Tovares (email@example.com). Include “public speaking contest” in subject box.
Public Speaking Contest Guidelines:
- Time limit is 5 minutes
- Extemporaneous delivery. No reading of speeches.
- Brief notes (One-two index cards) are allowed.
