Cap and Gown Weekend 2010

Cap and Gown is one of Trinity’s most cherished traditions. More than 100 years old, it is one of the most memorable moments in the lives of our seniors. Cap and Gown Weekend includes Cap and Gown Convocation on Saturday, and Cap and Gown Mass on Sunday, followed by brunch and a Courtyard Sing.

Saturday, September 25 – Sunday, September 26, 2010

This year, more than 300 seniors, families and members of the Trinity community gathered on campus for Cap and Gown Weekend on September 25-26.

Cap and Gown Convocation featured keynote remarks by Trinity graduate Renée Wolforth ’98, an attorney and refugee advocate who was presented with Trinity’s Washington Woman of Genius Award.  She urged the seniors to realize their privilege of an education. To “realize that what you are about to achieve is something that most people in the rest of world will never achieve because they will never have the privilege to be offered the opportunity to do so.” Read Renée Wolforth’s complete remarks or watch the video of her keynote address.

Cap and Gown Convocation also featured remarks from President McGuire and the presentation of the St. Catherine Medal to senior, Morgan Kellman.

Following the Cap and Gown Mass and brunch on Sunday, students from all four classes participated in the annual Courtyard Sing, at its rain location in O’Connor Auditorium. This included the presentation of the class banner to the incoming Green Class of 2014.
