Trinity’s athletic coaching staff has evolved over this past summer. With the hiring of a new head women’s basketball coach Tiffany Lockett, new assistant soccer coach, Najla Muhammad and two new assistant volleyball coaches, Brianna Clark and Khalid Kiker. Also, former assistant soccer coach, Jason Gross has been promoted to women’s head soccer coach.

Jason Gross will serve as the women’s head soccer coach after two years as the assistant coach at Trinity. Gross played Division 1 soccer at Howard University and went on to play professionally after being selected by the NJ Ironman of the Major Indoor Soccer League. He has coached for more than a decade in youth travel and high school soccer. Gross currently serves as the Director of Coaching for ACG Academy and recently earned a Master’s in Education from American University.

As for our new assistant soccer coach, Najla Muhammad, she comes with plenty of experience as a head coach with Capital Futbol Club in Washington, DC; head coach at Bishop McNamara High School, District Heights, MD; a youth soccer coach and trainer with Upper Marlboro Boys and Girls Club in MD and a youth coach/counselor at La Salle University’s community center.

“I’m very excited to step into the assistant coach role at Trinity, especially under a talented head coach such as Jason. The learning opportunities will be endless, and I believe together we have the potential to make a huge impact within the program,” said Muhammad.

Muhammad played Division 3 soccer at La Salle University where she earned a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and MBA.

To assistant volleyball head coach Shinicka Spears this season we will have both Kiker Khalid and Brianna Clark.

Khalid holds a BA in Economics, MS in Accounting and Management as well as a Graduate Certificate in Sports Management, specialization volleyball. Khalid played professional volleyball overseas for 19 years including the Moroccan National Team from 1986-1990 and 1994-1999. Following his professional playing experience Khalid worked youth counselor and volleyball coach in CA; HS girls volleyball coach in OK and Assistant Coach for women’s volleyball at Marymount University in VA from 2005-2007.

Filling our second assistant volleyball coaching positions is Brianna Clark, who comes with playing experience at the Division 2 level playing for Virginia State University as a defensive specialist/libero from 2009-2012. At VSU she was a four letter winner where she earned Student-Scholar Honors all 4 years, served as the Vice-President of SAAC and earned her BS in family and consumer sciences. Following she earned a masters in Counseling from Old Dominion University in 2014. Clark is currently a second year doctoral student in the Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies program at Howard University.

“I am honored and thankful to be a part of this growing program and the Trinity family. Volleyball has been a part of my life for 11 years and I’m excited to grow within the game even more. Coaching is a special calling, one in which I don’t take lightly and my goal is to assist in developing young women on and off the court. It’s going to be a great season! Go Tigers,” said Clark.

The Trinity community is excited about all the changes within the program and believes it will lead the program and student-athletes to success on and off the court/field in the years to come.
