Dr. Bill Beverly’s Novel Receives International Recognition

- In October, Associate Professor of English Bill Beverly’s novel Dodgers won two awards from the Crime Writers’ Association: the Gold Dagger, for the best crime novel of the year, and the John Creasey New Blood Dagger, for the year’s best debut crime novel. Dodgers is the first novel in the awards’ history to win both. On January 19, Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday, it was selected as one of six contenders for the Best First Novel Edgar, awarded by the Mystery Writers of America.

- Sr. Mary Johnson, Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Religious Studies, presented research findings from her national study of international Catholic sisters at the annual meeting of the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion in Atlanta, Ga. from Oct. 28-30, 2016.
