Dr. Bwekia Steen, Assistant Professor of Education and Coordinator of Early Childhood Programs, was recently published on the website, “NAEYC for Families“. Dr. Steen’s article titled, “Sign Here! Three Tips for Navigating the IEP Process” addresses the importance of research, collaboration, and asking questions when navigating and understanding the process of an individualized education program. In addition to her online publication, Dr. Steen has been invited to participate in several conferences this fall where she will serve as:
- A panelist at the 2015 Early Educators Leadership Conference in Leesburg, VA for the Council for Professional Recognition on October 3, 2015.
- A presenter at “We the People”, the 45th Annual National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) Conference, in Arlington, VA on October 20, 2015.
- A poster presenter at the 2015 National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Conference and Expo in Orlando, FL on November 18, 2015.
