Student Government Officer Responsibilities
Office of the President
- To represent the entire student population on a variety of Board and Committees dedicated to the student interests and rights. (Board of Trustees, DC Capital Consortium of Colleges, and The Federation of Leaders)
- To ensure the functioning of the SGA officers and committees with respect to the constituency representation and duties
- To ensure the functioning of the SGA as a representative and policy making body
- To chair the bimonthly Student Government Association Meetings and to cast the deciding vote in the event of a tie
- To act as a liaison between the three branches of government and maintain a running dialogue with the Faculty, Staff, and Administration
- To act as a student advocate on issues concerning the community
- To serve as a member of the Budget Committee
- To appoint SGA Parliamentarian
- To hold office hours as needed
- To attend events and may be called upon to speak publicly at certain events as seen fit
- To helpĀ facilitate Freshwomen Orientation and organize Leadership College
Office of the Vice President
- To assist the SGA President on representative and policy matters
- To assist the SGA President in pursuing the dialogue between the three branches of the government, Faculty, Staff, and Administration
- To act as a student advocated on issues concerning the community
- To attend bimonthly SGA meeting
- To oversee April Campus-Wide Elections and September Freshwomen Elections
- To serve as a voting member of the SGA
- To chair the Campus Safety Committee
