Biographies

Irvin Moore – 2010

Irvin is pursuing a degree in Business Administration. A native of Baltimore, MD, Irvin enrolled in Trinity in the Fall of 2008. Irving has consistently remained on the Dean’s List and was awarded a Trinity SPS Scholarship for the current academic year. For the last seven years, he has worked as an Accounting Associate at the Chronicle of Higher Education in Washington, D.C. In addition, Irving serves as the current Parent Student Teacher Association President at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, M.D.  Upon graduation, Irvin intends to pursue a dual master’s degree in Social Work and Higher Education Administration. He hopes to address the institutional inequalities that adult students encounter, and provide direct service to adults in student development and counseling. He attributes his success to a strong faith, the tenacity and drive to push through adversity, and the love and support of family and friends.

Tracy West – 2010

Tracy West is a single mother of three, who decided to pursue her college education two years ago. Under the guidance of Candice Washington, she enrolled at Trinity Washington University (THEARC). In May 2010, she will be obtaining an Associates Degree and will further her studies on the Main Campus. Ms. West will be earning a Bachelor’s degree in Human Relations and a Master’s in Special Education. With her degree, she plans to continue working with special education students at the Arts of Technology Academy where she currently works. Ms. West prides herself in studying and continuing to excel each semester. Two of her daughters will be following in her footsteps in the Fall 2010. Ms. West is proud to be a student of Trinity Washington University and plans to give back in the near future by teaching a course of two at Trinity’s southeast campus.

Elizabeth Singletary – 2010

“As a student of Trinity Washington University at THEARC, I have been fortunate to have learned new skills, developed my confidence, and broadened my horizons. I felt truly blessed to have bee awarded this great honor and to be counted among the many women who have contributed greatly to our society. As President McGuire stated at the convocation ceremony, and I agree, “This is only the beginning.” Thanks to the instructors, my family and friends for their encouragement and support during my journey”.
