Position: Office in the Economic Division
YTP is happy to welcome Kate Liao, Office in the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in Washington, DC. As a significant economy and trading partner, Taiwan is situated in a unique geopolitical position to continue to expand its trade with the U.S., China, and the rest of the world. Ms. Liao will be discussing key items on Taiwan’s trade agenda such as the recent signing of the Taiwan-New Zealand free trade deal, the status of U.S.-Taiwan TIFA talks, Taiwan’s participation in the Trade in Services Agreement, its recent cross-strait services agreement with China, and its ambitions to join TPP. Ms. Liao will be answering questions and interacting with the audience, so feel free to come prepared with thoughtful questions. After Ms. Liao’s presentation, we will then proceed to the Bottom Line for our usual post-discussion debrief and meet-and-greet. Ms. Liao’s comments are off the record.
