Putnam Partners, a top Democratic political media consulting firm based in the DC Metro area, is looking for interns that can begin work in February 2013 and continue through May 2013. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent or soon-to-be graduate looking to break into political advertising or communications work. Our firm works on a variety of races with national, state-level, and local significance.
The principals at Putnam Partners have produced national television advertising for four American presidential campaigns including President Obama, two overseas parliamentary campaigns, and have been lead consultants and strategists for campaigns in 47 states. Interns will be paid and have an opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas, including: speechwriting, script writing, production planning, shoot advance, post-production (editing of commercials), issue research, and media buy monitoring. Previous experience in video editing is a plus and your skills would be put to work.
Other office-related tasks will be part of the internship but will not be the preponderance of work. These tasks will include helping answer the phones, handling mail, purchasing office supplies, general filing and office organization, and helping prepare marketing materials.
Candidates for these positions should possess strong oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, sound political instincts, and good organizational skills. He or she must also have the ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and balance multiple projects at once. All candidates should be familiar with Microsoft Office suite.
