Analyst, Development Finance Initiative

Position: The Development Finance Initiative at the UNC School of Government (SOG) is seeking an Analyst. The analyst will assist DFI in providing technical assistance in development finance and public-private partnerships to local governments and other community-based organizations in North Carolina.
Background: DFI partners with local governments in North Carolina to attract private investment for transformative projects by providing specialized finance and development expertise. DFI partners with communities on projects including building reuse, community development, downtown revitalization, economic development, neighborhood redevelopment and small business finance. DFI tests innovations in the field of development finance in partnership with community and economic development entities in communities across North Carolina.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s level training in business, real estate development, planning, public administration, or equivalent also required. Applicant should have at least two years of experience in real estate development and/or finance. The successful candidate should have excellent technical skills in real estate development and/or finance.
In addition, the position requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to take ownership of projects and to be accountable; to show initiative; to work independently; to be adaptable; to prioritize and meet deadlines across multiple projects. Presentation, financial modeling, and mapping skills are required. Successful candidates will have interest in creating triple-bottom returns for community and economic development projects in distressed areas of North Carolina.
