Mary House is located close to the Brookland / CUA Metro / bus stop off on the corner of 10th and Otis Streets, NE. It is a building located next to the large Archdiocese for the Military building. The address to locate the site is 1007 Bunker Hill Rd. NE Washington DC 20017 — Trinity students could take the Trinity loop that stops at the Brookland CUA Metro Bus station — and walk across 10th Street to Mary House.
The position is for a short term (5-6 weeks) volunteer for Mary House after school program starting as soon as April 30. The time commitment would be 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. There is a possibility of a small stipend. This is to assist with after school program for about 28 children (split into 2 groups pre K and grade school age). Assistance is needed to walk the children from the nearby school to Mary House, assisting with homework, reading, outdoor play, snack time, arts and crafts. Volunteer(s) would be working as part of the after school team lead by Notre Dame AmeriCorps Members, Alissa and Megan.
If there are any Trinity students interested, they can contact Sharon Murphy at Mary House (202) 635-9025 or e-mail her at casademary@aol.com.
Thanks so much!
