While I’ve posted this job opportunity to most of your school job boards, I wanted to touch base and let you know that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of the Chief Information Officer is looking for graduate students to join its highly successful internship program.
These paid internships give students the opportunity for hands-on work in an innovative, forward-thinking government agency. We’re looking for local graduate students, with at least one year left in their degree program, who are fast thinkers, good writers, and above all, excited to work hard as part of an award-winning Federal office.
While this is an information technology office, we aren’t looking for students with technical backgrounds. These positions will largely deal with strategic communication and web content development and coordination, so inter-personal skills are key. There are multiple positions available.
Our internship program has great success giving students experience in the Federal government. Graduates of the program have been hired in public service and private-sector offices. Some graduates are even hired to stay within our office and jump-start their careers.
For more information, students can visit http://www.dot.gov/cio/docs/InternshipAnnouncement_11092010.pdf. Applications should be sent to me at Kim.Cruts@dot.gov. As a graduate of this program myself, I am always available to answer any questions your students may have.
Thanks for your help getting this information out to your graduate students!
