The NYC Department of Consumer Affairs’ Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) seeks a Project Manager to support and provide smooth implementation of the Assessing Financial Capability Outcomes (AFCO) research pilot. This study will enable OFE to develop future programs and initiatives to facilitate financial access and improve financial well-being for underserved low-income adult populations. The AFCO research pilot will be implemented at the Parks Opportunity Program (POP) administered by the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation.
The objectives of this study are as follows:
- Examine how the effects of financial counseling in combination with access to a safe and affordable checking account differ from the effects of account access alone. Specifically, the pilot will examine the effects of financial counseling and intensity of account access on:
- The beneficial use of a checking account, and
- The general financial well-being of participants
- Inform the development of financial capability programs aimed at low-income adults and inform best practices and delivery models
This is a temporary position lasting approximately 9 months.
