Check out FNAR 249 Music in World Cultures this Spring 2012. The class will be offered on Thursdays in Term 1 for 3 credits. It will introduce students to the study of music from a global perspective. This course emphasizes the development of listening skills and the appreciation of the music of many different cultures and traditions in order to go beyond the limits of one’s own experience. Students are required to do some field research in preparation for class assignments. Formerly MUS 291 Music in World Cultures. 3 credits FLC Area II
This semester, we have a film and music video cinematographer that teach you how music and visual images combine to inform your perspective of culture. Music from various countries and native populations will be explored to make this a truly ‘ear-opening’ and mind expanding experience.
