Internship – Washington Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo
New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo (D) seeks responsible graduate or undergraduate college students for unpaid, full or part-time internship positions in the Washington Office of the Governor on Capitol Hill. In particular, students with an interest in political science, economics, public policy, or communications are encouraged to apply, as are native New Yorkers and those with strong ties to New York State. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is a plus.
While there is some flexibility to tailor the responsibilities to the candidate’s interests, the general responsibilities include:
Attending congressional hearings and submitting summaries to staff, or accompanying staff and state officials to meetings on Capitol Hill;
- Basic legislative research and tracking legislation;
- Responding to requests for information;
- Administrative duties, including updating contact lists, mail, and phones.
The Washington Office of the Governor advocates for the interests of New York State and serves as the primary link between the state and the federal government. The Washington Office is located in the Hall of States Building, steps away from Union Station and the U.S. Capitol.
Applications are being accepted immediately to fill two positions. Please submit a resume and cover letter by mail, fax or e-mail to:
