The federal HomeSaver Program is a United States Treasury Department foreclosure prevention program for the unemployed.  It is being launched in Wards 5, 7, and 8 on January 18, 2011 and city-wide April 12, 2011.   President Obama announced this Help for the Hardest Hit Markets $1.5 billion funding initiative - www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/help-hardest-hit-housing-markets, on February 19, 2010.  The District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency – www.dchfa.org is the lead District agency administering the program for eligible District residents.
