As you know, Trinity’s catholic heritage also means that we show respect and caring for students, staff and faculty of all faiths. In keeping with that tradition, we wish all of our Jewish community members a Happy Hanukkah!
Hanukkah or Chanukah, the “Festival of Lights,” starts on the 25th day of the month of Kislev in the Jewish Calendar and lasts for eight days and nights. It is a holiday that celebrates religious freedom and national independence. The story of Hanukkah dates back more than 2,000 years.
In 2010, Hanukkah begins at sundown on December 1 and last until December 9th. With blessings, games, and festive foods, Hanukkah celebrates the triumphs–both religious and military–of ancient Jewish heroes.
