Welcome to the Notre Dame Chapel at Trinity Washington University! This sacred space is a beautiful location for a memorable wedding. Trinity’s staff stands ready to ensure that your wedding ceremony is memorable. Notre Dame Chapel is available for weddings of current Trinity students, faculty, and staff and their children, as well as Trinity alumnae.
Please note that the chapel has some limitations. The building is not equipped with central air and public restrooms are located in Main Hall. Campus Ministry does not provide presiding priests, deacons or altar servers; the couple must arrange for these themselves. Maximum capacity for the chapel is 500. Additional details are outlined below, as well as in the Wedding Brochure and Wedding Policies
Trinity will only host Catholic weddings and all weddings on Trinity’s campus must take place in Notre Dame Chapel. Weddings conducted in Notre Dame Chapel must satisfy wedding and other liturgical requirements of the Archdiocese of Washington. Trinity’s Campus Ministry Director will assist couples with learning the rules and procedures for Catholic weddings. Trinity reserves the right to decline hosting any wedding that conflicts with Catholic policies.
Trinity charges a $1,200 fee for weddings in Notre Dame Chapel. This fee includes all related services including a Friday night rehearsal, sacristan and Mass supplies, parking, security and custodial services. One-half of the fee ($600) is payable at the time of the reservation, refundable if the wedding is cancelled up to three months prior to the date.
Rental Time Block
Your reservation holds a time block of four hours on your wedding day, and one and one-half hours for rehearsal on Friday night prior to your wedding. Please be considerate of these hours; other
weddings may also be occurring before or after yours. The rental period includes set up, decorations, the ceremony, and pictures. Please allow at least one hour for the ceremony in your planning.
Some Saturdays will be unavailable for rental. Dates include, but are not limited to, Holy Saturday, Graduation weekend, Reunion weekend (June) and Move-in Day (August). The office of Campus Ministry reserves the right to remove other Saturdays from the schedule as circumstances require.
Campus Ministry reserves the right to adjust scheduled times in accordance with the needs of the University community. Late arrivals simply shorten time in the chapel.
