Emphasizing Empathy: Honoring a Commitment to Care

November 17, 2011 - Long before I ever dreamed I’d be associated with a Nursing program, I had a nurse as my heroine.  I’ve thought a lot about my “nurse heroine” in the past months and particularly in the past days as we’ve honored veterans here at Trinity and beyond.  The nurse in question was my great aunt, Mary Muscoe Broaddus, who served as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army, saw duty in France during World War I, and retired as Head Nurse at Fort Bragg in North Carolina in 1943.  Never married, she was my father’s godmother, and he was her surrogate … Continue reading

Registration’s Open: Anticipating 2012
