Turning Trinity Around — Literally!!

sign out front_edited-1 (Large)Signs are quite literally everywhere … Trinity is turning around!  Starting on Monday, August 4, access to the front part of Trinity’s campus at Main Hall is REVERSED…. Cars coming to the front circle will enter through the gate that is on the library side of the front circle, closest to Franklin Street.  Traffic will proceed around the circle to the left and exit at the gate in front of Notre Dame Chapel.  The map below shows the new traffic circulation and parking map:

parking-map-3This “reversal” of traffic and designation of some new or different parking areas for students, faculty and staff is an early sign of bigger changes coming — the construction of the new Trinity Academic Center is about to begin!  Hooray!  You can keep track of all of the construction news on the Construction News page of Trinity’s website.

We will start seeing more signs of construction during the month of August — a fence will go up around the construction site between the library and the science building.  A new temporary parking are and access road will be built alongside the library near Michigan Avenue.  And, very soon, heavy equipment will arrive to start excavating and leveling the land to prepare the foundation for the new building.

groundbreaking studentsWe had a great groundbreaking ceremony for the new building during Alumnae Reunion on May 31, and many Trinity students were present for that grand occasion.  We will also have a “Groundbreaking Party” to start off the new school year, and I will announce that date shortly.

Thanks to everyone for your cooperation as we build Trinity’s future!
